Brothers arrested in fatal shooting at 2524 Firnat

CaptureTwo brothers are jail in connection to the Jan. 7 shooting which left one man dead and another injured in north Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
The suspect, Jose Rufino Espinoza, 22, allegedly murdered 37-year-old Juan Gabriel Espinosa inside his trailer at 2524 Firnat around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, HPD reported. The suspect’s brother, Roberto Salazar, 19, is charged with tampering with evidence related to the shooting.
“HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the address and found one male outside the trailer home with a gunshot wound to his left hand,” HPD Homicide Division Officers R. Klementich and T. Colbert reported. “Espinosa was found deceased inside the home. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The wounded male was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released.”
Further investigation identified Jose Rufino Espinoza and Roberto Salazar as suspects in the case, according to HPD.
On Saturday, Jan. 10, the brothers were arrested in Shepherd by San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
HPD said the two confessed to their roles in the shootings.
