DA Warns of Impersonation Scam

District Attorney Devon Anderson today warned the public about a scam that is targeting Harris County residents. Criminals are claiming to be members of the District Attorney’s Office. The scammers are calling residents inquiring about a loan they have open and then asking for their paperwork. When the resident asks more questions they are put on hold and then the phone call is disconnected. In some cases, victims claim they are receiving paper notices at their home telling them to call a certain phone number to speak with one of the DA’s Office staff.

If you receive a phone call or paper notice of this nature, it is a scam. Please report it to your law enforcement agency. Also, if you have a loan open call the company to find out your status. Always check your credit report to make sure your information has not been stolen or compromised.
