The Houston Police Department are investigating an incident in which an HPD officer discharged his duty weapon at 4100 North Freeway about 12:45 a.m. on Saturday.
No officers were injured in this incident.
“Officers assigned to the HPD North Patrol Division observed several traffic violations by a motorist,” HPD Homicide Division Police Officers C. Liu and M. Arroyo reported. “When they attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the motorist fled. During the pursuit, the driver struck a parked private ambulance and came to a stop. As officers attempted to detain the suspect, he began backing the vehicle toward the officers. At that time, one officer, fearing for his and his fellow officers safety, discharged his duty weapon more than once. It is unknown if the suspect was struck as he then fled in the wrong direction down the service road. His vehicle then struck a fence and came to a stop a second time. He then fled on foot and remains at large.”
The incident is being investigated by HPD’s Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions.
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call HPD’s Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
