HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer A. Hart reported:
The suspect was driving a silver Chevrolet Impala westbound on Parker Road, over the Hardy Toll Road, when he attempted to pass another vehicle in front of him. The Impala, now traveling in the eastbound lane, tried to move back into its lane when it struck a green Ford Explorer. The Impala went back into the eastbound lane and struck a white Nissan Maxima head-on. The driver of the Maxima was pronounced dead at the scene and his passenger was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with serious injuries. Two persons in the Explorer were treated and released from an area hospital.
Following the crash, the suspect fled the scene on foot. A citizen saw the suspect run and flagged down an HPD officer nearby. The officer arrested the suspect after a short foot pursuit. The suspect was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where he is being treated for injuries received in the accident.
