Authorities are trying to determine the identity of a human skeleton found in a field south of downtown yesterday, according to the Houston Police Department.
The remains were found around 11 a.m. in the 9500 block of Fannin by workers conducting a survey of the area, HPD reported.
“[Workers] found bones in a vacant field on Fannin,” HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers M. Coleman and T. Tyler reported. “Patrol officers responded to the scene. Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences personnel arrived and verified the bones were those of a human.”
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined the remains to be human, with gender and cause of death pending verification at this time.
