On December 24, 2014, at approximately 2115 hours Oscar Rivera Jr. was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Eastbound in the 2600 block of Cromwell Street. With Rivera was Leopoldo Ramos Jr. Rivera was driving at a high rate of speed for the roadway. Rivera failed to stop at the stop sign for Shady Lane which is a T intersection. The vehicle continued through a guard rail on the East side of the intersection. The vehicle continued East across some grass on the West bank of the Hall’s Bayou. The vehicle went airborne off the West bank of the Bayou. The vehicle continued through the air and landed on the East bank of the bayou. Rivera was found with no signs of life at the scene of the crash.. Ramos was transported to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover.
This crash is being investigated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division.
