Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a female found at 5100 Chennault about 4 p.m. on June 22.
The suspect, 27-year-old Carlos Torres, of Humble, is charged with murder in the 177th State District Court.
Torres is accused in the death of Eleivia Vigil, 22, of the above address. An autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined her cause of death to be strangulation.
“Ms. Vigil, who lived at the above residence with other family members, had gone out the previous night (June 21) to various bars and returned home about 2 a.m.,” HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Hassig and Officer T. Ferguson reported. “Family members attempted unsuccessfully to wake her the next morning but her bedroom door was locked. A few hours later, the family again attempted to wake her and still received no answer. Family members then went outside, looked through her window, and saw her deceased on the bed.”
Further investigation identified Torres as the suspect in this case. On Wednesday (December 10), he was arrested by members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.
