Humble ISD kindergarten teacher accused of indecency with student

A 41-year-old former Humble ISD elementary school teacher was arrested today for allegedly inappropriately touching a student, according to the Harris County District Clerk’s Office.

Alfonso Martinez, who was formerly a kindergarten and first grade teacher at Park Lakes Elementary, is charged with two felony counts of indecency with a child, court records show.

Martinez, of Atascocita, was put on leave in April after a parent became concerned that their child may have alf4been touched inappropriately by a teacher at school, Park Lakes Principal Sarah Ballard wrote in a letter to parents.

“Martinez was barred from the campus and an investigation launched,” said Ballard. “He resigned in May, a month after being put on leave. Humble ISD Police continued to investigate, sharing investigative results with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office so that charges could be filed. Martinez now faces allegations of inappropriately touching two students on campus. Martinez was a kindergarten and first grade teacher at our school from 2009-2014. This matter is now being handled by the court system.”

Martinez was booked into Harris County Jail on $60,000 combined bond.
