A wreck along FM 2920 in Tomball left one woman dead and another in jail over the weekend in an apparent wrong-way collision, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Heather Michele Green, 30, of Magnolia, was intoxicated Saturday evening while driving eastbound on FM 2920 in her Nissan Pathfinder, HCSO reported.
At about 9:50 p.m., Green allegedly merged into oncoming traffic in the 9800 block of FM 2920 and collided head-on with the victim, Heather Renee Rankel, who was deceased by the time paramedics arrived at the scene.
“[Green] changed lanes from the outside eastbound lane to the inside lane but then continued to change lanes across the center turn lane and entered the No. 1 westbound lane,” HCSO Deputy B. Troyer reported. “The front of the Pathfinder struck the front of Rankel’s Hyundai Sonata. Rankel was found with no signs of life at the scene of the crash. Green was transported by LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann TMC.”
According to HCSO, Green was intoxicated during the accident and has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Green is being held on$10,000 bond at the Harris County Jail.
The incident is still being investigated by HCSO’s Traffic Enforcment Division.
