Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 700 Link Road

Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident at 700 Link Road about 11:10 p.m. on Saturday (September 27).

The male victim, 63, was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant T. Trometer and Officer J. Best reported:

The victim was riding a bicycle westbound on Link Road when he was struck by a pickup truck of unknown make or model.  The pickup, also traveling westbound, did not stop and fled the scene.

Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 10400 Eastex Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 10400 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 1:50 a.m. on Saturday (September 27).

The male victim, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Nickerson and Officer T. Branford reported:

The victim was attempting to push his stalled vehicle, a white Honda Odessey van, off the Eastex freeway.  The man and his vehicle were then struck by a yellow Toyota Cienna minivan traveling northbound on the freeway.  The driver of the Toyota, who remained at the scene, was questioned and released.

The investigation is continuing.

Fatal Traffic Accident at 12400 South Sam Houston Parkway West

Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 12400 South Sam Houston Parkway West about 4:50 a.m. on Saturday (September 27).

The male victim, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer T. Tran reported:

The victim was driving a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck southbound on the Sam Houston Parkway and failed to control his speed.  The pickup veered off the road and struck a concrete barrier.  The victim, not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle into a bayou below the roadway.  The HPD Dive Team responded to the scene and recovered the victim’s body.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.

Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Stabbing at 2800 Kirby

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 2800 Kirby about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday (September 28).

The suspect, Huntley James Grichor (w/m, 26), is charged with murder in the 351st State District Court.  He is accused in the death of Shannon James Gallagher, 25, of Houston, who died at the scene.  A photo of Grichor is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Officers M. Arroyo and C. Liu reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to an apartment complex at the above address regarding a stabbing call.  Officers arrived and found Mr. Gallagher deceased.  Further investigation determined Gallagher got into an altercation with Grichor and, at some point, he was fatally stabbed.  Grichor was detained at the scene and subsequently charged.

Grichor used to play quarterback at Klein High School.

He was released on $50,000 bond.

Investigators Search for Murder Suspect

Investigators need your help in locating Peide Yang, a murder suspect in the killings of Zhi Liu, 53, and her son Bang An, 22. Murder charges were filed and an arrest warrant was issued for his arrest.

Zhi Liu and Ban An were found dead in their garage at 15330 La Mancha Dr. on Sept. 3, 2014.

Anyone with information of the whereabouts of Peide Yang is asked to call Houston Crime Stoppers at (713) 222-8477 or the Homicide Division of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office at (713) 967-5810.

Younger sister shoots, kills brother on accident

A 13-year-old  girl accidentally shot and killed her older brother Friday, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police say the teenage girl fatally shot her brother on accident at the family’s home.

The 22-year-old victim, who has not been identified, died at the hospital.

Details: On Saturday September 27, 2014, at approximately 0140 hours, Rodolfo Arzate was operating a gold Toyota Camry, at a high rate of speed, westbound in the 4100 block of Little York Rd. Dwayne Brown was operating a black Lexus GS300 westbound in the 4100 block of Little York Rd. Arzate failed to drive in a single lane and the driver’s side of the Toyota struck the passenger’s side of the Lexus. After the Toyota struck the Lexus, Arzate attempted to steer away from the Lexus, then over corrected, and entered into a yaw. The Toyota then continued to travel westbound, in front of the Lexus, exited the roadway, and crashed into the ditch in the center grass median. The Toyota came to a final uncontrolled rest, on its roof, at the bottom of the water filled ditch.

Arzate was found on scene with no signs of life. Brown showed no signs of impairment on scene and was released.

This case is open and is currently under investigation.

Title: ACCIDENT INVESTIGATOR
Details: On 09/26/2014 at approximately 2314 hours the complainant, an unidentified white male pedestrain, was attempting to cross the 15500 block of I-10 East from the south side to the north side.

At the same time Francisco Modregon was operating his 2008 Honda Civic wesbound in the 15500 block of I-10 East in the #2 westbound lane. The complainant was attempting to cross a controlled access freeway where prohibited and failed to yield right of way to the Honda. Mondregon’s Honda struck the complainant and the force of the collision caused the complainant to travel northwest where he landed in the roadway in the #4 westbound lane.

The complainant died at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision.

Details: On 09-26-2014 at approximately 06:00am, the complainant Walter Jones was operating a motorcycle traveling south on SH 249 in the number 1 lane. A black Chevrolet HHR was pulling out of the Shipley’s Donuts located at 13639 SH 249 and making a left turn onto SH 249 traveling northbound. The motorcycle operated by Walter Jones attempted to stop but was unable to do so before striking the left side of the Chevrolet HHR. The complainant died at the scene due to injuries sustained during the crash.

Chief McClelland to Help Host Badges & Bases H-Town Rundown

Beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, Houston Police Chief Charles A. McClelland, Jr., together with the Houston Police Foundation and the Astros Foundation, will host the Badges & Bases H-Town Rundown at Minute Maid Park at 501 Crawford Street.

The event will begin with a Kids Fun Run, followed by a Badges & Bases 5k and 10k race.
